........we have a blast!
I never really was much of a dancing person. I always felt awkward and thought everyone in the room was staring at me. But the last year or so I've discovered my inner dancing queen. Luckily, Paul is actually the kind of guy that likes to go out dancing too.
Our dancing journey began about a year ago when we went and listened to Abbey Rode and Already Gone -- local Houston tribute bands for the Beatles and the Eagles. At this concert we sat next to a couple about our age. Our first seats in the bar were next to a really rowdy group of people who kept getting in the way and being obnoxious. This couple eventually got up and found a front row table. After a few minutes they came and got us and told us that they had room for us too. We spent the evening watching them dance, dancing a little ourselves, and carrying on a conversation (as best as you can in a noisy bar).
A couple of months later the BEST Beatles tribute band -- The Fab Five -- showed up on our side of town at one of our favorite old hangouts. Trust me when I say this -- you HAVE to have a table reservation at these events or there is NO place to sit. Well much to our amazement there out on the dance floor was the same couple we had seen at a previous "Beatle" event. We once again shared a lttle conversation and made jokes about how we keep seeing them at Beatles concerts.

Well last night we found out that The Fab Five was once again on our side of town. We got our table reservation and the show began at 9:30pm (ugh....very late). Well there out on the dance floor was our "old" friends again. The next thing we knew they were sitting at the reserved table right next to us. We figured we might as well formally introduce ourselves since we keep seeing them at these events.
We had a great evening of talking, eating, FABulous music, and calorie-burning dancing. We've made the invititation to be Facebook friends and plan on hanging out with them at all the Beatles events we can attend. Now we've got some new friends to share these fun nights out with.
What a fun night we had........but getting home at 2am is way too late for us "old" folks. Thankfully we had nothing demanding on our schedules this morning and were able to sleep until 10am.
I think I could really enjoy this dancing thing more often!
