We are so "spur of the moment" people
In fact -- it's really quite an interesting way to be. Luckily we have the ability to live such a spontaneous life (sometimes)!
It's no secret we are over-worked, over-stressed, and any other "over" you can think of. So yesterday at 1pm Paul made the decision we were going to take off for a mini vacation.
In fact, it was going to be a mini vacation to College Station TX (approx. 1.5 hour drive away) and it would include trivia and pizza.
He did his homework and found a place that was having trivia with a $100 grand prize. We notified one of our "new" trivia buddies and he was all set to meet us there. He also is a "spontaneous" guy and was up for the challenge.
So after making hotel reservations, quickly throwing a suitcase together, and making sure that all was well with Pizza Zone.....we left at 3pm.
Dinner was a surprisingly delicious pizza and long chat with the manager at Gumby's Pizza in College Station and then it was off to the BIG trivia challenge.

The Place: O'Bannons Tap House
The Competition: approximately 35 teams comprised of mostly very intelligent Texas A&M students
Our Mission: To not feel like the "old" people in the group and secure a 1st place victory. Although, our very brilliant trivia mate is a 2008 Texas A&M graduate and only 24 years old (and very smart).

The result: a very lucky 4th place finish!
So......after a wonderfully quiet, restful, and peaceful night at our luxurious hotel.....we were off to our next adventure!

So where should two "nerdy museum" type people go.....but to the nearest museum. Fortunately, one of the most historic places in Texas was a very short distance from where we where -- so off we went!
The Place: Washington on the Brazos
Why: This is the place were the pioneers of Texas agreed to make Texas an independent republic and signed the Declaration.
I only wish that I was half as interested in history in school as I am now, because I am absolutely OBSESSED with learning it. Texas has an amazing history! So today we saw the place where they signed the declaration and visited a homestead of the last President of the Republic of Texas. My next desired history lesson: The Civil War!

I can't tell you how wonderful it was to just get away and spend a quality 24 hours with my "best friend". We needed this break so much and I truly can't wait for the next time we can get away for our time together!
