A peek into our week

Busy, busy, busy.  That's the way we live.

Although, I'm really feeling bored and think we need to go on another trip.  Hahahaha.....not happening anytime soon.  First time in a long time I don't have airline tickets tacked to my bulletin board.  Actually, the only tickets hanging there right now are our Texans tickets which will get used on my birthday (can't wait.....I'm going to have an amazing birthday this year).

Okay, since I don't have any real topic to write about......I'll just share all the pics from this week.  I know that will bore you to death.......no I'm sure you are going to be so excited to see them .

We've got a hodge podge collection for you this week.

Thank goodness for modern technology.  We are now able to take a picture of defectively delivered food and send a picture to our rep asking for a refund.  It's ridiculous some of the stuff we get delivered!

Now this next set of pictures is pretty perplexing to me.  They happen to be artwork that we have hanging in our house.  I had no knowledge that these photos were taken until I went into our photo download folder and found them.  (our phones automatically download any pictures that we have taken to a joined folder once we get home).

So imagine my surprise when I look in this folder and I found these pictures.  I wonder what Paul is up to?  Is he planning on selling our valuable art collection or what?  I'm just going to ask him when he gets home tonight why on earth he took these pictures.  I'm sure he'll have a valid reason....but in the meantime......enjoy our pictures.

Actually, it was fun seeing those pictures......every single one of those pictures represents a story and a memory of when we purchased them.  I seriously feel like I have the best life......and I have the best person to enjoy it with.

Last Saturday night we fulfilled a bucket list item for my husband.   He had never been to a car race.  He got the store staffed up so we could take a Saturday night off and off to the races we go.  The only bad part was the race track was an hour away......boo!  But we had so much fun!

I was excited this week to find Wise potato chips at the Family Dollar store.  THESE ARE THE BEST POTATO CHIPS IN THE WORLD!  Paul introduced me to these the first time I went to Florida.  They are only available on the East Coast.....so every time we travel that direction, we try and pick up a bag.  Can't believe I found them in Texas.  (only bad thing is I have virtually stopped eating potato chips).  However, I bought some of these for us to enjoy over the next month!

Asked my husband to stop and pick up lunch the other day when he came home.
Really didn't know what to say when he delivered it in this.......a trough?!?!?!?!

This week also saw us traveling to Brenham, Texas (about 1 hour away) to meet with a lawyer who is reviewing our lease for the new space.  We had some time to kill and I found this:

I have been looking for an old fashioned hutch for my breakfast room for awhile.  This one was such a great price.  Our biggest problem was transporting it. Still trying to decide if I really need it.  (on the backburner for awhile.

While in Brenham, it just happened to be Scarecrow Festival and they had decorated scarecrows all over town (I just love small towns and this is one I would move to).  How cute some of these were.

Once again this week, Paul had to take a picture of inferior product delivered to us.......geez!

This was only one day after it was delivered.  We don't want to serve this crap in our restaurant.

And last, but not least, our fun evening at the Spring Casino Night yesterday.  What a great time we had.......

The fun night also gave us an opportunity to hang out with Alan and Tricia.....whom we hadn't seen for awhile. (and some random photo bombers)

What a fun and busy week the Gainor's had!

Honoring a great man

This is a difficult one to write.  In fact, it's been a long time coming and I just didn't have the emotional strength to write it.  With tears streaming down my face right now.....I'll give it my best shot.

Today is a special day and it's finally the right time to get this written.

On January 9, 2016 the world lost a very special person.  Those words are not said lightly.  Everyone is a very special person to someone......but this person was special to TONS of people.

When I think of great men, this person comes to the top of my list.  He is the kind of man you want your sons to grow up to be.  He's the kind of man you would want your daughter to marry.  I know it's not just our lives he touched......he touched lots of them.  He was the ONLY person who encouraged me to run off to another state and meet some guy I talked to on the internet......and look what that got me (thanks Phil!)

He was an amazing husband, father, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend.  The kind of guy you liked to hang around because he was just so darn much fun.  Our world without him is huge and the hole in our hearts is even bigger without him.

9 months later it's still so hard to believe that he's not here.  No more wild and crazy parties at the Felix's.  No more being insulted by the best.  No more laughing until I practically wet my pants.

But, what we do have left is the memories from our times spent with this amazing person.

So on this day, what would have been his 58th birthday.......Happy Birthday Phil!  I wish I could tell you how you touched the lives of my family, especially my children.  They looked up to you and enjoyed all those times we were together.  I only hope that they grow up to be half the man that you were.  I hope that they develop your kindness, generosity, and your love of life.  We miss you so darn much and will you will forever be in our hearts.....we love you!

Here's to brother Phil..................

Happy Birthday.........we'll be lifting our glasses high for a toast to you today!

Here's what's happening in our little corner of the world

Busy!  Busy!  Busy!

We've been spending lots of nights over at the proposed new location taping off things to make sure our plans will work.

We celebrated one of our drivers being with us for 13 years!
He's also our fellow trivia team member.

Pulled out the new cookbook and thawed a bag of green chiles.
Can't wait to start eating these things.

We headed to San Antonio last week to check out an auction.  Round trip driving 6 hours, but it was a gorgeous day and gave us lots of time to talk about all the things we've got going on.  We ended up not purchasing anything, otherwise we were going to have to return the next day and pick the stuff up.

I thought that I knew everything there was to know about tacos......but never heard of these before.  These were puffy tacos in a Mexican restaurant in San Antonio.  Very tasty.

This was Paul's night working alone at the proposed new location.

He did a lot of measuring and taping things off that evening by himself.

Probably on our next visit, we are going to line up some table and chairs and make sure our dining room is going to work.  That ought to be a fun night.

Luckily, I've been making lots of easy make ahead meals so that we can spend time taping and measuring.  This night we had pasta fagioli soup.

And of course I had to make the best chicken salad in the world with those New Mexico green chiles.  I even made a batch of sprouts so that we could have the perfect chicken salad sandwiches.

These were quite yummy I might add!

Here's another evening where we taped of where the office is going to be located.  We even took the dog with us that evening.......we probably won't ever do that again.

At least we had some beverages to enjoy while we worked!

And that's what's been happening in our little world lately.
