Don't try this at home!

Don't try it anywhere!

Loading yourself up with too much to do!!!

I didn't do it to myself....it just happened because all the stars and planets in the Universe lined themselves up and created the paperwork apocalypse!

All these items are things that are being tackled this week and have to be done before the end of the week (Friday).....there are no exceptions.

1.  Renew the hired/non-owned insurance
2.  Renew the business property insurance
3.  Renew the worker's comp insurance
4.  Stickers and flyers for 2 schools
5.  Getting all of last weeks paperwork done and caught up
6.  Doing payroll (after all the paperwork is caught up)
7.  Do an employee newsletter
8.  Update all signs for the new Pizza of the Month (for the stores)
9.  E-mail to customers
10.  Update website for March
11.  All the other little things that keep cropping up that need done (like dealing with an employee unemployment dispute)
12.  Pay all the first of the month bills....both personal and business

Okay...it was really therapeutic to write it all down and now I can use this as my "to do" list so I don't forget anything.  Gotta run.....the phone is ringing again from another insurance company to either need more information or get me my quotes.

Just for the record

This morning as my husband and I were taking an early morning walk for our excercise, we got in a discussion of where we would like to go next month for our anniversary.

He suggested going to Pizza Expo this year.  Pizza Expo starts on March 19th in Las Vegas.  He suggested going there because he knows my love for that city.  This way we could incorporate a little business with a little pleasure.

JUST FOR THE RECORD.....I said "no, I would rather go somewhere else".

WHAT????  I turned down going to Vegas.....am I crazy?  I have never been known to turn down a gambling trip.

No, we just need time away from work and work related things.  We are burned out and are running on fumes.  I'd rather go somewhere we haven't been before and experience something new.  There are still so many places we are looking forward to......so unless something extremely weird happens, we will not be going to Vegas next month.

I wonder where we will go?

Visualize it and it will come

My husband has the most amazing dry erase board in his office.  We made it ourselves and it takes up almost his whole wall.  A place where he can write down his HUGE "to do" list and his goals.

Today, I went up there and wrote down my goals.  They say if you write it down and look at it every day and visualize it......they will happen.

Here's mine:

I guess we'll find out what happens on 3/23!

Why is a laundry room so special?

Because it's my latest project, and it has turned out so awesomely beautiful.

Take a look at these pictures and you'll see the magical transformation.  WARNING:  don't judge -- it was a little dirty and cluttered in the "before" pictures.

This is where my old washer and dryer sat for 15.5 years.  Underneath that ugly brown cabinet in a room that is tragically a bad color.  I must have been color blind the day I bought that paint.

This is the new Coastal Plain paint on the walls and I think it just looks so much better than the "nuclear" green.  As you can see, I also made that ugly brown cabinet look amazing.

This is the old pantry shelves.  They actually were a little more organized than they usually are, but I just hate having them exposed.

Here's the new painted version.  I really want to install doors on the front of them, but I am having a hard time convincing someone else.  This is not a job that I can do myself :-(

And this is the finished product.

Yes.....I am proud of myself!

Sometimes homemade is just way better

Have you bought a can of creamed corn in the store lately.  It really is crappy.  It's all liquid and tiny pieces of something that might be corn, but it's so small.....it's hard to tell.

So for last night's dinner, I decided to make it from scratch instead.

Paul found an easy, easy, easy recipe and it seriously was so simple and quick to make.

Of course you have to start out with fresh corn scraped off the ear.

Then you add flour, water, sugar, salt, pepper, and half and half.....and voila!  This cream corn was so amazingly delicious and we definitely will be eating it again soon!

Goodbye's & Hello's

Yesterday was a very exciting day in our house.

We finally upgraded a few things to the latest and greatest available.

Enjoy looking at our new treasures:

Goodbye, old broken down microwave.

Hello, brand new shiny convection oven and  microwave combination!

Goodbye, old small and out of date refrigerator.

Hello, new shiny big boy with your ice and water in the door!
(and your obvious handprint on the door from the delivery guy who just set you up)

Goodbye OLD washer & dryer.                         Hello fancy (complicated) new ones!

Goodbye, you old small and dumb TV that can only be a regular tv.

Hello, new BIG and gigantic 3D HD SMART TV!  You can not only show regular TV, but you can get on the internet wireless and can be a computer and you can connect to our telephones and you can be a 3D movie screen, and you can......
(Sorry for the blurry picture.....I'm busy ya know and I don't have time to retake pictures)

Okay......that's just some of the exciting things that have been going on around here.  Stay tuned for pictures of the glorious renovation of the laundry room.  Not quite finished with it yet, still have a few finishing touches and then we'll do the grand reveal.  You will be amazed at the difference (although, if you were paying attention to these pictures you caught a small glimpse of it).

Now, time to get busy.  Someone's gotta work to pay for all this stuff!

Lots of things happening in our household

So much going on at this place this week.

Thought I would take a moment and just catch you up on some of the details of our recent adventures.

After 15 years of living in this house, it was time to do some upgrades.  We have the same old refrigerator, washer, and dryer that we had when we bought the joint.  And since Pizza Zone is now a million dollar company.......yes that's right......our total sales last year were just a little over a million.  Buy hey, even if it was a dollar over a million.....it still is a million dollar company right???  We decided it was time to upgrade to the new millenium and get some new appliances.

Well part of that is true.  The microwave is on it's last legs.  Not that it doesn't work efficiently, but if you recall from an earlier blog....the door is cracked, the box is cracked, and the handle has been broken for awhile.  So....we needed a new microwave.

Also, Son #1 needed a washer and dryer since his roommate that his moving is taking his.  So he's getting the hand me downs and I'm getting an awesomely fantastic new pair!

But we really did need to upgrade our little old refrigerator and get a beautiful new French door refrigerator with filtered water and an icemaker and a vegetable drawer.

And since Paul was feeling neglected.....it was time to upgrade our 27" television to a HUGE gigantic 60" flat screen.  Well of course, that means we need to go and get another TV stand....so that led to more shopping today.

But we are good shoppers and got really great deals by shopping sales and getting our really expensive refrigerator at the Sears Outlet store.

Everything is being delivered on Monday......so that means this weekend will be spent painting and cleaning the laundry room in preparation of the new equipment.  Cleaning out the old refrig and cleaning the floor underneath in preparation for the new fridge.  Emptying and moving the old entertainment center in preparation for the new TV and stand.  And....not doing a darn thing to get rid of that old broken down microwave.

See ya'll next week with some pictures!
