We've got a full feast planned for our menu today.
Appetizer: Getting bank deposits ready and going to the bank
Soup de Jour: Updating e-mail list
Salad: Designing monthly marketing e-mail and setting it up to mail itself automatically tomorrow morning.
Main Course: Designing signs, updating website, posting instructions for staff on preparation, changing boxtoppers to this month's Pizza of the Month
And don't forget to save some room for your dessert --
Dessert: Paying bills and printing marketing letters
I think I'll pass on this menu and just have myself a big juicy hamburger instead!
Ha Ha......looks like I have a full day ahead of myself!

The final insult
It's not bad enough that I've been sick for 9 days (I am starting to feel better)
It's not bad enough that I have gone through 3 boxes of Kleenex; 1 roll of toilet paper (cause I ran out of Kleenex; and 1 bottle of Nyquil to try and battle this coughing, runny nose, and just feeling crappy.

And now.....just when I think I might be on the end of all this madness.....my lip is now in the beginning stages of sprouting a BIG fever blister. I'm not talking one either -- OH NO -- we're going for the double siamese twin kind that takes up 1/4of my bottom lip! I should have known it was coming -- usually happens after I've been sick like this for awhile. And of course it's trying to be the "big daddy" of all cold sores and feeling very tender and huge on my lip. (I'll spare you the details and not take a picture)
But I'm not giving up -- I've started vigorously applying the Abreva and will try and conquer this new enemy who is trying to invade my body.

The worse: I haven't been able to kiss my husband for over a week now because I was trying to spare him this illness. Now I have to wait a little longer until I can get rid of this little monster!

Screaming
My ribs are screaming: "please don't cough any more.....you're killing us"
My nose is screaming: "please don't blow any more.....I are red, dry, and it hurts for you to rub me"
My head is screaming: "please go take some more Advil.....I am hurting again"
My skin is screaming: "why is it when you get sick this itchy psoriasis just flares up all over me?"
My body is screaming: "why am I hot and then I am cold and then I am hot again?"
I am screaming: "I am tired of being sick! I want to be well again"
Okay.....get the picture?

Now I've blown it
In fact, I've blown it so many times that I'm tired of it.
What you ask? My nose, of course.
This little case of laryngitis erupted into a full blown illness. You know the kind - runny nose, headache, sore throat, general all over feeling of "crap". First you're hot, then you're cold, and then you can't hold an upright position for very long without running for the kleenex. And we won't even talk about how your nose feels after blowing it at least 100 times.

I don't like being sick. In fact, it really disrupts my day. I seriously have no time in my life for being sick.......there's too much to do.

So today in addition to all the other things I have to get done......nursing myself back to wellness will be my top priority!

Eggless Easter
Happy Easter! Happy Day off for us!

Well not really a day off for us....because there is always something to do. But a day off from dealing with the stress of having our two stores open. So technically it's a day off for our worrying minds.
Today will be spent cleaning house, catching up on some more paperwork, and making a dinner for my Houston family. And as an added treat.....I get to do all this while being sick :(
There will be no running around the house and yard looking for colored eggs, easter baskets filled with all kinds of surprises, or chocolate bunnies. Those days are long gone and will not be back again until we have grandchildren visiting our house. I miss that excitement.

Instead it will be 5 adults carrying on forced conversations while eating my awesome pot roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn.
And in the blink of an eye it will all be done and they will all go home and once again our house will turn into it's quiet sanctuary. And then once again I will bo back to working on cleaning house and catching up on paperwork.

Homeward bound........
Looking so forward to our trip "home"
Miss the family, miss the mountains, miss the cactus, miss the friends, miss the food, but don't miss all the "brown".

I love where we live in Texas. I love green. I love grass. I love trees. I love water. All of those we have here in Texas. We even have a beach within one hour of us (not the best.....but hey it's still a beach)

But we are all excited about coming back to Tucson. Love ya'll......can't wait until we see ya!

I wonder how many of these things I can devour while I am there?

Routines and Rituals
Shampoo
Rinse
Conditioner
Body Soap
Rinse Soap and Conditioner
Brush Teeth
If I don't do them in this order, I usually forget something.
Isn't it funny that the older you get -- you develop a routine or ritual? In fact, I usually do these things every morning in the shower without even thinking about them. It's just a habitual act. Usually my mind is on 18 other things that need to happen that day, so I don't even have time to think about my showering habits in the morning.
But let me miss one step ---- and I might walk out of the shower without rinsing the conditioner out of my hair.
Are you like this too......or am I just weird?

No Talking Thursday
It was totally unplanned, but it looks like today is going to be pretty much silent.
Yesterday I woke up with that funny feeling in my throat. Couldn't describe it as "sore", but it just felt "funny".
Sure enough, the first words that left my mouth this morning had that low, raspy, deep, masculine-type, and froggy sounding. Sounds like a full blown case of laryngitis!
Thank goodness I had nothing planned for today that really required much speaking. So now I'll sit in the solitude of my house and work on my quiet paperwork and not utter any words.
Thankfully I only listen to talk radio all day long so I won't even have the urge to "sing along" to any songs.

Waiting for the phone call
Well it's been 4 months since we sent in our application packaet for our chance at The Amazing Race.
So far they haven't called us.
We're still sitting here waiting for them to call. We've got our passports and we're ready to have the adventure of a lifetime.
Although, our workout regimen hasn't been very good the last couple of months. We might have to huff and puff a little and Aaron might have to carry me on his back.....but other than that -- we're ready to go!
There is still time. I still answer unfamiliar phone numbers on the caller ID just hoping that it's Phil Keoghan calling to tell us he's waiting for us in some fabulous city.
Maybe if we all subliminally send out the signal to call us......it will happen.
So get ready....call Team LA......call Team LA......call Team LA
I think I'll go start packing my backpack now.

Things that make me happy :)

Is today the day?
Is today the day......that I get to lay out in the sun and get a nice tan?
........no not today -- I have tax stuff to work on
***************
Is today the day......that I get to curl up in bed with "Decision Points"?
........no not today -- I have many bills to pay
***************
Is today the day......that I get to go and buy some new clothes for upcoming events?
........no not today -- I have to clean up all the "little projects" that are cluttering my desk
***************
Is today the day......that I get to make plans for a glorious Caribbean vacation?
........no not today -- I have to get last week's paperwork caught up.
***************
Is today the day......that I get to get my hair highlighted and get a cute new cut?
........no not today -- I have to go to the bank, go to the grocery store, and stop by the vet.
***************
Is today the day......that I get to dream about all the things I was wishing I could do or places I could be?
........yes today -- because dreaming about all these things can easily be achieved while working your butt off!

Hauntings
Do you believe in ghosts?
I do. I think that the spirits of those we have loved stay with us and watch over us.
I also think that they love to show us signs that they are around.
We lost Leslie back in November. She was fast becoming a member of our family and brought lots of noise and excitement when she came into our ordinarily quiet house. Personally, I lost someone I really thought was going to be my daughter-in-law someday and we really had a great relationship. I was looking forward to all the fun things we were planning and finally getting a chance to enjoy having a "girl" around my house.
Well lately I think Leslie has been around letting us know that she's still around and once again, she's making LOTS of noise.
First event: One of the spoons in my collector's rack flew off the rack onto the floor. All of these spoons are secure and no one ever touches them.

Second event: Paul and I were in the office and the dart board fell off the wall with a GIANT crash. We just got done putting it up on the wall when.......

Third event: a stack of folders in the same room fell into a giant heap.

Fourth event: A couple of hours later that same spoon flew out of the spoon rack again. Interestingly enough -- the spoon that keeps falling off has a dolphin on the handle (her mom loves dolphins)and no other spoons have fallen.

Fifth event: Things have been quiet and then last night one of my new frying pans fell off the counter (when no one was in the kitchen). I had to give her a little lecture on this one though, because it was a brand new frying pan and now the edge is dented and the lid won't fit on it. I asked her the next time she wants attention to go back to knocking spoons off the rack and not messing with my new pots and pans!
In addition to these noise making activities, I have walked into our laundry room on two occasions and just caught a small whiff of her perfume. At that moment I tried once again to catch that smell thinking there was something in the room -- but it was gone.
Believe what you want or do not want, but I know she's around and she knows that we miss her like crazy!

I'm stressed. Very stressed.

However, there was one bright spot today. I thought I HAD to do laundry today since I ran out of underwear, but I found some that got mis-drawered. Yeah......I can postpone it for four more days!

What should we call Wednesdays?
Reading different blogs it's fun to see people's ideas.
Wordless Wednesday seems to be popular. This is where you post a picture and don't say anything. But I want to be different (cause you all know I certainly am)
I thought about "One Word Wednesdays". I could post a picture and try to capture the theme with only one word.
I thought about "Weird Wednesdays". I could just post a random picture that really is non-important, but still shares something about my life.
So what should it be?
Maybe I could mix it up a little and do all of them -- then you would have a challenge and surprise each Wednesday keeping up with me!
While I'm still pondering this life altering decision, I will share the pictures that I took for today when it was originally going to be "One Word Wednesday".
Caliente!
Muy Caliente!

P.S. My new Cayenne pepper plant and it already has about 10 peppers growing on it!
