Instead of complaining all the time about what we don't have....
....we should be more thankful for what we do have
I am thankful for a loving and hardworking husband who truly loves and takes good care of me
I am thankful to have two grown children who haven't caused me too much grief over the years
I am thankful for my friends and family who are always there if I need them -- I am thankful I haven't needed them for a long time
I am thankful that we have our own business and a great staff who are working hard to keep it going -- even with all the headaches
I am thankful for the common sense and maturity to be thankful for what I have!

Why is it....
...that when you have the most to do -- you find the most things to do to distract you?
...that you have all these exciting photos on your camera from vacation, but your son (who owns the camera) can't find the cord to download them?
...why is it that you go on vacation to get some rest and relaxation...but you come back tired and need a rest?
...you're excited to plan and go on your trip and glad to be back home, but after three days you are excited to start planning a new trip?
...that having a good attitude all day just makes everything so much better and you have a brighter outlook?
...that I'm sitting here writing this and trying to think of all these ideas when I really should be WORKING?
...that all these people like to read the ramblings of a middle aged woman who spends too much dreaming about things?

Home again

The cat......
..............is out of the bag. So now the secret is out
We're going to Los Angeles. We're excited, especially Paul. He's never been to California except for our 3-day trip to San Francisco 3 years ago. I'm excited, I've been to LA lots of times -- but it's been at least 15 years. It will be fun going as a "grown up" and seeing something other than Anaheim!
We were very excited to find out that two more Presidential libraries can be chalked off our bucket list. The Reagan and Nixon Libraries are each within close proximity to LA and will definitely be on our agenda!
Paul found us a great hotel, the bags are getting packed, the work is getting done (blah), and tomorrow morning we're heading off for 4 days of fun! We need it.....it's the celebration of a record week at the new store and 12 months of practically working every day (except for a couple of times when we took our mini trips)!
So thank you Continental airlines for making this trip possible. If not for your last minute $36 ticket -- we would not be going!
Gotta run........off to put my feet in the Pacific Ocean!

I'm so excited!
Woo hoo.....big change of plans.
Continental Airlines was only playing with us. Just thought I'd check today to really make sure there were no "last minute" fares and lo and behold....hallelujah....they had 25 discount destinations from Houston!
So.....after deciding last night that maybe it wasn't a good week to go away --
We changed our minds today
We checked over the list, found a couple of places that looked interesting, and made our decision. Here were some of the choices: Wichita KS, Bogota Columbia, Alexandria LA, Fort Meyers FL, Cancun Mexico, New Orleans LA.....plus several more.
But you're not gonna find out until we get back.........cause it's a secret!

Travel update
Well......that darn Continental Airlines
We were counting on them to have a list of really great destination on their "Last minute" fares for this weekend.
After waiting all day (with excitement and anticipation) to see what tickets they would have available ......they disappointed us by not offering any $36 fares this weekend
So...........I guess it's back to the grind for this week and we'll make another attempt at it next weekend!
If we don't take the opportunity next weekend.....it will have to be delayed a little longer. The next weekend is the long awaited Tom Petty concert on Friday 9/24 and we have a 100 pizza order for 9/25 that we need to be here for. Oh.....the fun of owning your own business!

Trying again
That's right....trying again
So will we be able to do it this time?
or
will we fail like the last few times we've tried to do it?
Need mental and physical break -- we've been working way too hard for way too long
REALLY busy school nights coming this Wednesday and Thursday at EACH store! Hooray....this is what we've been waiting for at the new location!
We've staffed heavy -- we've even called in some ex-employees to come help us out at both stores to make sure we are READY for the busy nights.
So we deserve a break today.....let's get up and fly away (hmmmm.....sounds eerily similar to an old McDonald's jingle...did you get it?) We've scheduled our stores so that there is enough staff so we can get out of town for a couple of days starting this weekend. We don't have any idea where we're going yet, no idea how we're getting there, but we have decided that once we get "there" -- we're really going to try and take it easy instead of filling every minute of our mini vacation (yeah right).
So now Continental airlines it's up to you. We've got enough miles to get one of their $36 last minute fares to leave on Saturday. They will have the new destinations for this week posted on their website......so we'll have to see what's available and where we might be headed.
Don't you just love the thrill of not knowing where you are going until the last minute?

A special day
09-04
Maybe doesn't have much significance to you...but extremely important to me
This is the day that I met the person that was out there in the world for me. Thursday night, September 4, 1996 - a long "typed" conversation that lasted over 3 hours.
That was it -- he was the person that I was meant to spend the rest of my life with. Someone who was the perfect match for me, someone who enjoyed the same "weird" kind of things I like to do, and yet, who was also different than me in many ways.
The person who has shown me a different side of life and a different way of seeing things that I might never have experienced without him.
14 years later I'm still having the best time of my life with him. We are enjoying our journey together and look forward to many more exciting adventures that only the two of us can conjure up.
So happy 09-04 to you my wonderful husband and cheers to another 14 years of wedded bliss and awesome adventures!

Whew......
....what a week it's been
Thought I could be Superwoman, but my cape fell off today.
This week has been challenging. Trying to get caught up, having to help my son's friend and her cute little kiddo out, and trying to meet the deadlines of payroll, first of the month stuff, and whatever else got thrown my way.
As a mom we try to do everything and try to please everyone. At some point there's too much and we just need to stop and put ourselves together again. Maybe it's because I tried to tackle too much this week or maybe it's hormones.....but it finally got me!
After a good cry, some stress relieving blogging, adding the words "NO I CAN'T" to my vocabulary, and some quiet time all to MYSELF -- I'll be ready to take on the world again and ready to get pulled in 50 different directions.
Sometimes the sweet smile of a 3-year old puts everything back into perspective. So thanks Mason.....I needed that!
