There's no failure in trying

Today I was thinking back to January when my thoughts were overwhelmed with thoughts of The Amazing Race. Aaron and I had made the decision that we were going to do this. We were so excited about why it was our mission to get on this show and how important our cause felt to us.

We were doing this for Leslie. We were doing it because of one sentence we find posted on Leslie's Facebook page: "I want to travel the world.....in heels".

This one sentence captures how she was. She was loud, adventureous, spontaneous, and not afraid to take chances and live to the fullest......but, she was also a girlie-girl who took pride in the way she looked.

Aaron and I wanted this to be a big secret and we didn't want to reveal it to anyone until we found out we got picked for the show. But our excitement took over and we felt like we needed more people out there thinking positive thoughts for us.....so we began to tell people.

We took on the task of completing the CBS requirements for applying for this amazing journey.....which included getting our passports, each of us completing a 13-page application, and filming a video of why we wanted to be on the show. We did it.....and mailed it express mail on the day before the deadline.

Ever since then we've had our fingers crossed, watched out voice mails, and listened to countless people ask us if we've heard from The Amazing Race yet.

Well sorry to say.....it's been almost 5 months since we sent in our material and we haven't heard from them. Paul and I were discussing this other day and discussed how disappointing it was that we hadn't heard and how much fun it would have been travelling all over -- and then I thought of something. I told him that Aaron and I should still feel proud. Proud that instead of just "saying" we were going to do something, we did it. We applied for the show -- but haven't made it as of yet! How many people don't step outside of that comfort box and go for something that might be fun and challenging?

We did it and we should be proud that we did it. Who knows.....there was a part of the contract that we signed that said they would keep our submission on file and might be used on a further adventure! :)
