Naptime over......, but it was necessary to take another balcony shot to remember and celebrate this awesome vacation. And of course....we had to have a cold beer before we left on our journey.
Headed to the main metro station that was near our flat......
Blanche and head out into another adventure!
The weather was still a little gray and icky out, but we still had tickets for a boat tour on the Seine River. Hop on the Metro and head on over near the Eiffel Tower to get on a boat.
They took a souvenir photo before we got on board. As you can see the skies were gray, it was a little windy, and looked like we were going to get some more rain.
Because it was so windy and drizzly.....we were forced to sit inside the boat.
The pictures have a little reflection from the glass.....it would have been nice to get photos from the open air.....but you do what you gotta do.
The people sitting in area in back of us were from Katy, Texas (another Houston area suburb). They had just arrived that day and we enjoyed chatting with them. The people sitting in the area in front of us were from Brazil and asked us to take a picture of them before we set sail. We got them to snap one of us as well.
Paul looks just a little too cheery in this picture.
The rest of the photos are of the beautiful scenery we saw as we sailed along our 1 hour boat trip. Don't think I need to say anything......Paris is such a beautiful city.
After we were finished with the boat tour, it was time to start thinking about dinner and what we would do for the evening. We decided that we wanted to head over to the Latin Quarter, since we had so much fun there a couple of nights ago and there was lots of restaurants with very good (and reasonable) specials.
We hopped on the train and realized that we were going the wrong direction (oops). The decision was made to get off the next stop and catch the next train going the other way. I am so glad this was the next stop. It had such an old feel to it. For some reason I have a fascination with taking pictures of trains and stations. I love looking at these.
Once we headed in the right direction we arrived at the Latin Quarter and found ourselves in pouring rain. We quickly found a restaurant and enjoyed our meal. We had hoped to spend some time in the area after eating because there was lots of souvenir shops in that area and we seriously needed to get our souvenirs bought (our list was huge). But it was just too yucky and it was hitting almost 11pm.....so we just walked back to the metro station. Along the way, I saw this view and just had to stop and take a picture of it.
We had been in Paris 5 days and still hadn't seen the Eiffel Tower at night, so we left the Latin Quarter and headed to the tower to take a couple of pictures and enjoy it at night. However, the train that we got on decided to stop service a couple of stops later and the routing to get there would have just been too late (and we really weren't too sure about riding around the subways late at night. We did see a few sketchy people). So.......we headed back to the flat to get some sleep. Tomorrow was going to be our last real day in Paris and there was still stuff that needed to be done!
